You’ve probably wondered to yourself, who is the hottest cheerleader of all time? Let’s take a look…

Wait a minute! Who is that stunning mullet beauty in the bottom row…?

That’s right. The most beautiful woman in sports history has a name. And her name is Paula Abdul.
Back in the 80s Paula attended an audition to cheer for the LA Lakers, and defeated hundreds of other hopefuls with her unique and dynamic dance style, and eventually became the team’s choreographer.
This former Lakers Visit Cheerleader is the hottest thing to ever where a miniskirt, but…
Did you see that?? She’s also a humanitarian! She is going to work you out Idol Style so that YOU can cheer just as hard as she can!
The last 6 years taught us that Paula can’t judge the vocal talents of others. Probably because the Visit 90s taught us that she can’t sing.
But apparently she can dance and… cheer.
Hot.

…have been alive a shorter amount of time than John Smoltz has been pitching for the Atlanta Braves. However, he was at Atlanta’s Turner Field this morning to clean out his locker. Smoltz has agreed in principle to a $5.5 million, 1 year deal with the Boston Red Sox, who saved a lot in picking up a great pitcher.
Smoltz had 210 wins and 154 saves while a member of the Braves. In the mid-to-late 90’s he was a member of the greatest pitching staff ever; including future MLB Hall of Famer’s Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine. The Braves won their division 14 straight years, but were only able to win 1 World Series.
Injuries and severe pain have hampered Smoltz the last few years, but, when healthy, he is still one of the most effective pitchers in the league. He joins a Red Sox team that is a perennial contender and on the short list of potential World Series Champions. While it will be strange to see him in another jersey, Smoltz career is old enough to make its own decisions.

#5 : Jose Canseco Gets Juiced
For years, Major League baseball fans watched as Jose Canseco launched homers into the uperdeck. With homerun records falling year after year, nobody seemed to care that these athletes had bulging biceps, thick neck, and huge legs.
That all changed when Jose Canseco retired and published Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits, and How Baseball Got Big. Revealing his steriod abuse during his record baseball history.
#4: SMU Football receives the “death penalty”
The “death penalty” refers to the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) power to force United States academic institutions not to compete in certain sports. It is the most severe punishment that a school can receive. Twenty years ago, money killed the SMU football program. The NCAA handed SMU the first and only “death penalty,” eliminating football for the 1987 season.
#3 : The O.J. Simpson Trails
Never has a professional athlete fallen from such heights to such depths as O.J. Simpson has. Simpson, a former Heisman Trophy winner, was arrested in 1994 and charged with the murder of former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

#2: Tonya Harding
This skating scandal was so huge that it made Olympic women’s figure skating competition the sixth-highest rated program in history.Trying to eliminate her competition in the 1994 Winter Games, Tonya Harding asked her then-husband to hire an attacker to take a pipe to Nancy Kerrigan’s knee. This led Harding to a victory gaining the U.S. title.
#1: The 1919 Black Sox Fix
The Cincinnati Reds’ 1919 world championship banner proudly hangs at their current home, The Great American Ballpark. One of the players banned for life by Commissioner Kennesaw Mountain Landis. Most importantly, a signed confession by Jackson was somehow “lost†during the trial. The scandal damaged baseball badly.

When accused of adultery, you can’t just issue a standard denial these days – you have to sue the bastards who gave a voice to the accuser. Tony Parker, the husband of star Eva Longoria, has shot back at reports he cheated on Longoria with French model Alexandra Paressant by filing a $40 million lawsuit against the gossip site and their false rumors.
The lawsuit claims the alleged affair never happened, and that Parker has never even laid eyes on Paressant, let alone slept with her. Photos published on the gossip site suggest otherwise. Parker and Longoria have been steadfast in the denial of the affair and have publicly made clear that their marriage is as strong as ever.
There is even talk of a possible baby. Longoria claims she has just gained weight, but photos would tell us differently. Hopefully this suit won’t cause difficulty for the unborn child.

As we continue in the NBA season, several rookies have stood out from among the pack as the more talented players in their class.
OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose, Greg Oden and Rudy Fernandez have all impressed for various reasons. OJ Mayo was expected to be a great talent on a losing team and this has happened as the Grizzlies are woeful, but he has been a great scorer for them. Derrick Rose was expected to be a talented player on a mediocre team and the Bulls have ingrained him into the offense.
Greg Oden, though, has been inconsistent, but his team is winning in the tough Western conference. Furthermore, Rudy Fernandez, his teammate on the Portland Trailblazers, has been an impressive spark off the bench. Rose and Mayo are on terrible teams and while they have impressive numbers, this has not translated to many wins and the odds of either making the playoffs this season, especially Mayo, are quite slim. Some voters will vote for the rookie of the year based on individual numbers while others will analyze the rookie’s impact on the team’s win-loss record. While you think about your decision, here are some NBA cheerleaders to view:

This is the beginning, or maybe the end. The recession will reveal if the consumers and companies have to use their money to support favorite sports teams, in the mean time many sports are already planning for the worst that could happen. With customers eating fewer hot dogs or cutting days out of going to the ball park, companies reducing advertisement, all the major sports teams and parks could suffer badly.
“It’s unlikely that we won’t suffer (in 2009),” said Tim Finchem, commissioner of PGA Tour, the main U.S. golf tour. “What we’re seeing now is a pullback on spending by corporations … and those things come home to roost in ways that can negatively impact us.”

The weakness sign is already present to the NFL, MLB, Golf (PGA), and NASCAR. Sponsors spending less and lower attendance to cut jobs. The weak economy also has raised costs for such things as stadium financing, and has also hurt advertising, sponsorship and consumer spending. the NFL has cut a “substantial” amount of travel and entertainment, and promotional spending. While NASCAR was being hit with high gas prices.
“Next year, we will not obviously make that kind of a gain,” he said. “The question is, are we going to back up?”

We compiled a short list of what we feel are the top 10 sports moments. No offense if you don’t agree, you can go read someone elses top 10.
10. Goodbye Gherig (7/4/3). In perhaps one of the most touching sports moments, a dying man stood before over 60,000 people and the world to impart the genuine feeling that he was “the luckiest man in the world” for having the opportunity to endeavor through the love of his craft. Lou Gehrig, the Iron Horse, who had not missed a game his entire 13-plus year career (spanning a mind-bending 2,130 consecutive games) lowered his head and became the symbol of what sports, and maybe all of life is about; accepting your destiny, giving it your all, and enjoying every moment, good or ill.
9. Go Get ‘Em Tiger (4/13/97)! In what turned out to be a phenomenon, Tiger Woods was both launched and cemented during a record 18-under Masters victory by 12 strokes over an awed field. At the tender age of 21, and only his fifteenth appearance as a pro, with the eyes of the world watching his every move, the highly touted Woods became the youngest player to win the Masters in the 61-year history of the tournament, winning an event that didn’t even invite a black player until the year he was born at a club that didn’t invite a black member to join until 1990.
8. Namath Saves The Day (1/12/69) In a great moment in football history, brash Broadway Joe Namath, the richest of athletes at the time, uttered the unthinkable and broke the code of centuries of competition, he guaranteed victory. Standing at a podium in downtown Miami, Florida, where he was to be given the upstart pro league, AFL Most Valuable Player, Namath vehemently predicted his team’s easy victory in a game two previous representative from his league had been embarrassed in and whose own team was an unprecedented 18 plus point dog in a championship contest. The New York Jets and Namath did convincingly defeat the 13-1 Baltimore Colts and the NFL’s best defense, 16-7 and helped merge both leagues into what is now the premiere professional sports franchise in America.
7. Roger Bannister Breaks Four Minute Mile (5/6/54) A 25-year-old British medical student becomes the first man to achieve the unthinkable; run a mile in less than four minutes. One afternoon on the Iffley Road track in Oxford, England, his miraculously close time of 3 minutes and 59.4 seconds was achieved during a 15mph crosswind with gusts of up to 25mph. Ironically, this nearly caused Bannister to call off the triumphant event witnessed by about 3,000 spectators.
6. Long Jump World Record, Long Gone (10/18/68) In what is widely considered the greatest individual physical feat in human competition, 24 year-old, New Yorker Bob Beamon obliterated an Olympic/World Record in the long jump by a mind-bending two feet. Fellow American, Ralph Boston established the record years before at 27 feet, 43/4 inches, and it was Boston who coached Beamon through his record leap. As the Mexico City crowd watched in stunned awe, Beamon tossed his 6-foot-3, 160-pound 8.90 meters — 29 feet, 21/2 inches for the most lopsided destruction of a world record ever.
5. Owens Debunks Aryan Myth (8/9/36) Son of a sharecropper from Oakville Alabama, world class, black American athlete, Jesse Owens marched into Adolph Hitler’s great Berlin arena and spit in the face of the Third Reich’s claims of Aryan superiority by setting three world records and one Olympic record, earning four track and field gold medals in the same Summer Olympiad, a performance that would remain unmatched for 48 years. In front of the visibly infuriated German dictator and a stunned international audience, Owens won the 100 meters in an Olympic-record 10.3 seconds, the long jump, setting an Olympic record of 26-53/8 and the 200 meters in an Olympic-record 20.7 seconds. Owens won his fourth gold medal, leading off the 4×100-meter relay that would set a world record at 39.8 seconds.
4. Bye Bye Babe (1/3/20) The greatest player in the history of the game is sold from the powerful Boston Red Sox to the burgeoning New York Yankees for $100,000 to finance a Broadway play produced by Boston owner Harry Frazee. At the time of the deal, the Red Sox had won five world championships and was the toast of American League baseball. The Yankees had only been around for 17 uneventful years and didn’t even have a ballpark to call their own. Since, the Red Sox have not won a title. The Yankees built a ballpark in Babe’s honor and on his financial back and have won 26 titles.Â
3. Robinson Breaks Racial Barriers (10 /30/45) Breaking the color barrier and paving the way for modern American sport, Jackie Roosevelt Robinson becomes the first African American to garner a Major League Baseball paycheck. Thanks to the efforts of Brooklyn president Branch Rickey, and the indomitable spirit of Robinson, in less than two years the newest Dodger, after enduring trials and tribulations beyond comprehension, failed player boycotts and insidious fan outrage to become Rookie of the Year, while leading his team to the World Series.
2. Ali Wins The Title (2/25/64) In one of the most amazing upsets in boxing, the young, 22-year old stood against the seemingly indestructible heavyweight champ, Sonny Liston. The event was more than a mere world championship bout due to Clay’s taunting and media manipulation. In one night in Miami Florida, the Louisville Lip, Cassius Clay told the world he was the greatest, won in six rounds, despite the alleged cheating of Liston (the champ’s corner was said to have put a foreign substance on his gloves, effectively blinding Clay for the entire fifth round) and became Muhammad Ali, the greatest, and invented the American icon of latter 20th century sport.
1. USA Dream Team.  Rag tag assembly of mostly teenaged amateurs, barely together a few months and playing a sport invented and perfected elsewhere, take on the most polished, professional and seemingly unbeatable team in the history of international hockey and win; producing the greatest upset in all of sports. What makes the ultimate upset even more unbelievable is the fact that the same two teams played only a week earlier in an exhibition match and the Soviet Union cruised to a 10-1 victory, setting the stage for the expected American embarrassment that never came.

Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, battled a big concussion last week. He returned to practice on Monday and he then stated that he expects to play Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
Ben was injured in week 17, when 2 Cleveland Browns teammates tackled him while he was throwing a pass. He fell to the ground and hit his head off the Heinz Field’s turf. This has been Ben’s 3rd concussion in many years. Ben didn’t practice last, while the Steelers, second in AFC, had a bye in the first round.
“We’re optimistic about where he’s going to be capable of being. And … the bye is going to be helpful in regards to that,” coach Mike Tomlin

Golf: Not just for old farts. See: Natalie Gulbis. Her interest in the game began at the age of 4 and she had won her first tourney by the time she was 7 years old.
Glubis is now a professional golfer who plays on LPGA Tour having won the Evian Masters in 2007. She’s placed in the top-10 in four consecutive major championship from the 2005 LPGA Championship to the 2006 Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Of Latvia descent, Glubis has had more success in golf being known as a sex symbol (surprise!). She released a calendar right before the 2005 U.S. Women’s Open, which featured her playing golf and, wait for it, wearing swim wear. The USGA banned it from being sold during the tourney.
At one point she was romantically linked to Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger. She had a golf advice column in FHM for a while and a reality tv show on the golf channel.

The Chicago Cubs might have a new player soon. Milton Bradley. The Cubs GM slipped away to drive 40 miles north for a sneaky dinner in Los Angeles with Bradley and his agents, Sam Levinson and Keith Miller, and both sides thought that Bradley would be a great fit in Wrigley Field.

Bradley showed up a month later at the winter meetings in Las Vegas, where he made a strong impression on the Tampa Bay Rays, but the Cubs were never far away. And on Tuesday, multiple sources confirmed, the Cubs and Bradley reached agreement on a 3 year, $30 million contract. The whole deal is still currently pending a physical, which Bradley is expected to take later in the week, and the Cubs are not commenting until then. None the less, the Cubs are satisfied that Bradley, a switch hitter, is fully recovered from the knee injury that limited him last season for the Texas Rangers.
“He was a good teammate in Texas,†one club source said.
The Cubs believe that Derek Lowe is way too expensive but they’re going to keep looking for different pitching options. So the Cubs will return to their starters, Carlos Zambrano, Rich Harden, Ted Lilly and Ryan Dempster.

It’s the night of the 2009 Inauguration, all the women have different colored dresses, Michelle Obama is wearing a white one. She looks to her side and sees that someone has the same exact dress! Oh, the horror!
That wont happen now.. there is a new website called “Dress Registry“. This website hopes to limit these social nightmares by allowing you to “register” the dress you’re wearing with much detail. Example, height, color, style, designer and you can even upload the picture of your gown.
A man named, Andrew Jones, created this when his wife traveled from their home from Florida to New York to buy a dress for a charity ball, to avoid seeing the same dress.
“I kind of put two and two together and I said, ‘I think there’s a way technology can help us here,’ ” said Jones, a 42-year-old automotive industry consultant. So far, inaugural partygoers have registered about 100 gowns for more than two dozen official and unofficial events, including the Constitution Ball, the American Indian Inaugural Ball and the Green Inaugural Ball hosted by Al Gore. As the inaugural festivities near, the registries keep growing.
“I’ve had people self-registering their events every day,†said Jones, adding that he’s recorded some 300,000 hits and more than 10,000 unique visitors since the Web site launched Dec. 1. Some evening wear professionals in the D.C. area also try to minimize a client’s chance of embarrassment by not selling the same dress for the same occasion to anyone else. “We say, ‘Well, this has been bought already, so move on to something else,’ ” A store clerk said.

Here are 5 reasons that Tiger Woods WONT be his old self in 09 and 5 reasons that he WILL be his old self in 09.
1) His Knee
Not Himself: Even Tiger admits his surgically repaired left knee won’t be in tiptop shape until 2010.
His Old Self: If he can win the U.S. Open on one good leg and one that might snap at any moment, he can and will, win a major or two after the injured leg has been repaired.
2) His Desire
Not Himself: Winning never gets old … unless you’re Tiger. If you can win the open with one leg… what else is there to do?
His Old Self: Questioning Tiger’s hunger is silly. He could always go for another win.
3) His Rival
Not Himself: It’s Padraig Harrington, who has won 3 of the last 6 majors (to Tiger’s 2)
by perfecting his Sunday impression on Tiger.
His Old Self: It’s one thing for Harrington to shoot 66-66 at the PGA to nip Sergio at the finish for the major, but the next time someone does that to Tiger, they will be next.
4) His Proteges
Not Himself: A successful Ryder Cup showing can spur a hot young player on to win a major.
His Old Self: Playing well in Louisville may have boosted the confidence of Kim and Co., but that won’t mean much when they find themselves on the first tee at Augusta, shaking hands with the best player ever.
5) His New Baby
Not Himself: Woods and wife Elin Nordegren are expecting their second child in late winter.
His Old Self: Baby No. 2 will be no match for the world’s No. 1. When Tiger’s record had at-least 7 wins while his first child was nearly 3 months old.

During the weeks of Feb. 5 to Feb. 19, NFL teams have the opportunity to put a franchise tag on the players. That hasn’t stopped the speculation on the Patriot’s quarterback Matt Cassel. Teams can use the franchise tag to help retain players who are scheduled for unrestricted free agency. The Patriots have utilized it on players such as cornerback Asante Samuel, kicker Adam Vinatieri, and safety Tebucky Jones.
A player who is assigned the franchise tag still can be signed by other teams, but those clubs would surrender two first-round draft choices if the original team does not match the offer. Because first-round draft choices are so valuable, it is unlikely a player assigned the tag would be signed by another club. In the case of Cassel, he would receive a one-year tender offer that is the average of the top five salary cap charges among NFL quarterbacks, Which would be around $14 million.

It was possibly for this reason that the NBA superstar was finally able to will his team to victory after two straight losses on their current road trip. Los Angeles lost its games to two inferior teams, the Heat on Friday and the Magic on Saturday. The Lakers are favored to repeat their Western Conference championship from last season and are generally considered one of the top two teams in the league. However, they have not played well as of late and needed their best player to step up.
Fresh off his MVP award from last season, Kobe Bryant took a step back this season. Early on, his team was able to win without him haveing to dominate or play more than 30 minutes a game. Recently, though, the team has gone as Kobe goes. It took 36 points from him on Monday night to beat the lowly Memphis Grizzlies. The Lakers trailed 93-88 with 3 minutes remaining and relied on ten points from Bryant to take the lead and seal the victory.
It had always seemed that Vanessa Bryant wore the pants in their relationship, but Kobe’s infidelity and subsequent rape trial proved that he was not as subservient as some thought. However, all that trouble put him into that position. It is widely known that Vanessa does not tolerate losing by her husband and will hold back on certain wifely duties when it occurs. Now, Kobe is a great competitor, but a beautiful woman can will a man to do things when nothing else is working.

Tiger Woods has recently been taking full swings with irons and shorter clubs. None of these have been shots that have even surpassed 100 yards yet, but he is over a month ahead of schedule coming back from knee surgery. It will only be a matter of time before Tiger is back competing, but will he dominate again?
Over six years ago, Tiger was told he had barely 20% of his ACL left due to his violent golf swing. The fact that it lasted until the summer of 2008 was amazing, but it’s eventual tear has held Tiger out since the U.S. Open. His ligament has been repaired, the fractures have healed, and now Tiger has two healthy knees for the first time in years. According to Tiger, “I’m actually stronger in my legs than I think I’ve ever been.”
When Tiger first appeared in professional golf it was his supreme athletic abilities that allowed him to dominate. He was a real athlete, rare in the golf world, and this is what separated him from the rest of the pack and allowed him to dominate. He quickly became one of the greatest athletes, a face of Nike and Buick, and a world-wide sensation.
As his physical skills faded gradually, he became the strongest golfer mentally, winning tournaments because of his mental fortitude and quick thinking. Now, with his body being stronger than ever, and his mind even stronger, Tiger is poised to come back even better than before. It is hard to beleive, but Tiger’s experience and renewed physical health have set him up for success unlike ever before. Expect Tiger to run away with this PGA tour season and separate himself even further from the pack.

The Kansas City Chiefs have had an unfortunate couple of seasons. Actually, an unfortunate decade, plus. They have not come close to reclaiming the glory of their 1993 season when they reached the AFC Championship Game. They followed that season with a string of successful, winning campaigns, but recently have fallen to to the bottom of the barrel. Fed up over losing, Chiefs GM, President and CEO Carl Peterson has resigned, effective at the close of the season.
Carl Peterson started with the Chiefs in 1989 and immediately help build the team into a winner. He was able to get Joe Montana from the 49ers, who led the Chiefs to within one game of the super Bowl. After Montana departed the Chiefs continued to be in the mix in the AFC for several seasons. However, in an era dominated by the Cowboys, 49ers, and the Buffalo Bills, they were never able to get to the Super Bowl. Their luck then turned from bad to worse.
The Chiefs’ superstar, and best player, Derrick Thomas died from injuries due to an automobile accident. A few seasons later the Chefs’ Priest Holmes set the single season touchdown record, and two seasons later his career was ended by serious neck injuries. Shortly after, the Chiefs best quarterback since Montana, Trent Green, was knocked out of a game with a concussion and never came back. Fortune smiled on the Chiefs once more when 2,000 yard rusher Larry Johnson, from Penn State, fell to them in the draft. He quickly became the league’s best runner, but after a holdout and multiple brushes with the law, he has become forgotten.
The final straw before Peterson stepped down was a blown 18 point lead in a loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Who knows if his decision had been made before that game. It’s hard to believe that it wasn’t, but that loss proved that things are going to get even worse before they gets better.
