New Rule Changes the NBA Should Implement
Friday, February 29th, 2008While this current NBA season is one of the best in recent history, the league can still be improved. By implementing these three new rule changes, the NBA can get even more popular than it already is around the world.
First of all, the NBA needs to crack down on all these teams circumventing the trade rules. For example, today it was learned that Brent Barry will be returning to the San Antonio Spurs after being traded recently to and then waived by the Seattle Supersonics. Though I am a Spurs fan, that Barry is able to return to the Spurs is lame. If a player is traded to another team, that player shouldn’t be able to return to his original team until the next season.
Also, teams need to stop being able to sign retired players just for purposes of matching salaries in trades. Keith Van Horn and Aaron McKie being involved in trades was a joke. The rule should be that no player can be signed and then traded after the NBA season begins.
A second issue that needs to be looked at is the size of the NBA basketball court. Players today are getting bigger, faster and more athletic. With that in mind, it’s time to widen the basketball court. By making the court four feet wider, that’ll allow players many more angles to attack offensively. No longer would the corner three-pointer be so precarious.
Last but not least are the regulations involving the cheerleaders. Everyone loves cheerleaders but honestly NBA cheerleaders are too tame. Unless you are Amish, watching almost fully clothed cheerleaders isn’t exciting for most men. How about requiring thong bikinis for cheerleaders? These girls pictured here might be interested in trying out.
To take that a step further, how about a post game event where the cheerleaders really get down to business? Teams can give enough time for the children to be escorted out of the arena and then the cheerleaders can unleash their adult routines. Sounds good, right? Obviously, the NBA can learn a few things from us here at Steamy Sports.
