Chad Johnson Traded? Best Destinations
Sunday, February 24th, 2008Chad Johnson is known for his big mouth and his exploits as a stud wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals. He has single-handedly revolutionized the touchdown celebration over the last couple of seasons. When you watch a Bengals game, you can expect Ocho Cinco to put on a show.
However, his mouth may force him to change his address soon. Johnson has spoken freely about his displeasure in Cincinnati and is looking to join another team. Obviously, the Bengals would want nothing more than Johnson to come back and continue being one of the best wide receivers in all of the NFL. But word out of Johnson’s camp is he is dead set on moving on and starting his football career over elsewhere.
If Johnson does leave the Bengals, which teams make the most sense for him? While I believe that Johnson is talented enough to succeed almost anywhere, here are the top three teams that Johnson should try to join for the 2008 NFL season.
3) Cleveland Browns
The Bengals hated in-state rivals would be a very good destination for Johnson. Not only could he save on moving costs, he’d join an offense that is about to explode. Derek Anderson proved last year that he’s a quality starting quarterback. Jamal Lewis will be back in 2008 as he anchors the ground game. Braylon Edwards is a rising superstar at wide receiver who would allow Johnson to get plenty of room to operate. Johnson would make the Browns legitimate Super Bowl contenders in 2008.
2) Dallas Cowboys
While the Cowboys are a very good football team, they still need a couple more pieces to put them over the top. Johnson could be one of those pieces. While Tony Romo and Terrell Owens make for a great tandem, adding Johnson to the equation would take it to another level. Not only would Johnson thrive on the field, he’d love the spotlight that America’s Team offers. Johnson would become even more of a superstar on and off the field if he played for the Cowboys.
1) Indianapolis Colts
With Marvin Harrison slowing down, Johnson would be a natural fit for the Colts. Peyton Manning is officially one of the best quarterbacks of all-time and a wide receiver such as Johnson will only get better when playing with Manning. A wide receiver threesome of Harrison, Johnson and Reggie Wayne would be virtually impossible to stop. If Johnson can get the Bengals to trade him to the Colts, the Colts would suddenly become the favorites heading into 2008.
